    3 Months

  • Entre Maderas y Arte MX is an art gallery and design store that showcases curated artwork from established and emerging artists, alongside unique, hand-painted furniture pieces. The brand blends fine art and functional design, positioning each product as both a visual statement and a collectible object.

The project focused on transforming the brand’s digital presence into a scalable, high-performance e-commerce platform that could support both artwork and furniture sales. Key objectives included improving product discovery, creating a seamless browsing and purchasing experience, and ensuring the platform could grow alongside the brand while preserving its artistic identity.

The work was executed end-to-end, combining UX strategy, interface design, and front-end development. Emphasis was placed on clear information architecture, consistent visual language, and performance optimization to deliver an experience that balances artistic presentation with commercial usability.

    Role & Responsibilities

    UI/UX Designer & Web Developer

    ▪ Led the full platform overhaul, including UX/UI improvements, front-end development, performance optimization, and the complete migration from WordPress/WooCommerce to Shopify, ensuring data integrity, SEO continuity, and a consistent brand experience.

    Timeline & Duration

    August 2024 – October 2024

    ▪ Led a focused three-month migration and redevelopment phase following 18 months of prior platform iteration, optimization, and ongoing maintenance on WordPress and WooCommerce, resulting in a production-ready Shopify experience built for long-term scalability.

    ▪ Platform Takeover & Discovery: Took over the existing WordPress / WooCommerce site and maintained it over an extended period, gaining a deep understanding of the business, product catalog, and operational needs while identifying UX, performance, and scalability limitations.

    ▪ UX & Content Structuring: Audited the legacy platform to refine navigation, collections, and product hierarchies, improving product discovery and positioning artwork and handcrafted furniture as curated, premium pieces rather than standard retail items.

    ▪ Design & Migration: Designed and implemented a responsive Shopify experience using Liquid and CSS, preserving brand identity, visual consistency, and product storytelling while executing a full migration with no data loss and SEO continuity.

    ▪ Optimization & Iteration: Enhanced performance, SEO, and conversion paths through analytics-driven refinements and post-launch iterations, ensuring long-term scalability and ease of management.

    ▪ Improved site performance and stability: Reduced page load times and improved uptime by migrating to Shopify’s infrastructure, resulting in smoother browsing and higher session duration across devices.

    ▪ Stronger product discovery and conversions: Reorganized collections and product presentation to better showcase curated artwork and handcrafted furniture, increasing engagement and supporting a measurable lift in conversions.

    ▪ SEO continuity and growth: Preserved existing SEO equity during migration while implementing on-page optimizations, leading to increased organic traffic and improved search visibility without ranking losses.

    ▪ Long-term scalability and maintainability: Delivered a production-ready Shopify platform that simplified content management for the client, reduced technical overhead, and enabled future growth without redevelopment.
